Preparing for a Crisis—Situational Awareness

There are many possible crises that school administrators might face during their career. From possible tornados, fires, fights, or even lethal threats, administrators must not only be aware of these situations, but must know how to react when they encounter one. Situational awareness is defined as knowledge and understanding of the current situation which promotes timely, relevant and accurate assessment of friendly, competitive and other operations within the battle space in order to facilitate decision making. This course helps develop an understanding of the applicable safety precautions given each scenario, while performing school duties. Individuals will learn the correct procedures to respond to the different situations and scenarios they could encounter in the learning environment.
